if you don’t stop to look at turquoise!) New Mexico has both mountain and desert terrain. The former, is naturally, slower going. Driving times are approximate, counting on full daylight, good weather, and no road closures for highway repair. Add time to explore and enjoy your trip. Portions of these byways are fun on a mountain bike, especially the Turquoise Trail, especially the 13-mi. Sandia Crest trail with plenty of shade and great desert vistas.
